Home to the TPC golf tournament, Ponte Vedra welcomes golf enthusiasts every year from all over the world. Development of
much of Ponte exploded in the 1970's and 1980's. There are three different courses to play inside Sawgrass, for a total of five.
There are also more planned in the Nocatee area as well in the coming years. Ponte Vedra is also known for having some of the
top public schools in Northeast Florida, mostly "A" rated.

It was only 10 years ago, and almost all of these golf course communities were non existent. NW.
St. Johns County has experienced one of the highest levels of growth over the last decade. Golf
course home prices in general are less than many areas of Jacksonville, especially the beaches and
Southside areas. NW. St. Johns County also has some of the top rated schools, and many of these
golf course communities are only a short drive to Jacksonville. Many of the residents work in
Jacksonville, and enjoy lower tax rates and higher rated schools. The communities in the heart of St.
Augustine have a diverse selection of schools, some not so highly rated.

All of these golf course communities with the exception of Bent Creek and Panther Creek are located in Clay County. These encompass a very large area of Northeast Florida. West Jacksonville is known for having poor schools, Clay County has very highly rated schools. All of these communities are West of the St. Johns River, and in general, home prices are much less than comparable communities in Jacksonville that are east of the river. |
