North Jacksonville is the fastest growning area within Duval County. The majority of these communities below are located in the "New Northside" area, which was very rurul up until the last decade. Due to the low cost of land, many of these communities have homes more affordable than anywhere East of the St. Johns River. In addition, this area is still relatively convenient to Downtown Jacksonville Florida, the Jacksonville Beaches, JIA Airport, the Southside, and much more due to being located along the 9A Beltway around Jacksonville. This is a bustling area with loads of new shopping, schools, as well as a new 1.2 Million square foot shopping mall, The River City Marketplace. As you move closer towards downtown Jacksonville, you will run into our Old Northside area, which is mostly low to lower middle income housing.
Directly North of downtown Jacksonville is historic Springfield. Once a vibrant area with turn of the century colonial and victorian style mansions, and back alley streets, many abandoned the area after our 1904 fire in the area and the area went downhill. Springlfield is currently going through a major revitalization and is quickly becoming one of the places to live in the area.
